Primary Objectives:

This position reports to the Director of Facilities and Operations, and is a part of Whitefield Academy's facilities and grounds department. This grounds maintenance member will be responsible for the appearance of trees, shrubs, flowers and keep the grounds free from harmful insects and plant diseases.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining condition and appearance of lawns, grounds and practice fields
  • Laying out and marking playing fields (baseball, softball and practice fields)
  • Mowing, watering, and fertilizing lawns
  • Planting, trimming, mulching and fertilizing flowers, shrubs and trees
  • Weed eating and mowing of Whitefield Academy owned properties
  • Keeping grounds free from snow and ice
  • Keeping facilities and surrounding areas free from trash, debris and weeds
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and materials
  • Upkeep of baseball and softball dugouts and fields
  • May need to work late for baseball and softball games for equipment set up, rain delays or other issues that may arise
  • Report all unsafe conditions to the Director of Facilities and Operations
  • Assist other maintenance/grounds staff with all job related tasks
  • Other duties as assigned by administration

 

Hours:

7 a.m. 4 p.m. Monday Friday, and some Saturdays

May need to work late during special or sporting events

 

Key Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, basic Excel, email)
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision and/or in a team environment
  • Must be able to stand or walk for eight hours a day, frequently lift items of 50 pounds, climb, stoop, bend, kneel and reach
  • Able to work in an environment that includes chemicals, dust, fumes, odors, and working in hot and cold temperatures
  • A valid Georgia driver's license
  • Proficient with operating grounds keeping equipment such as tractors, walk behind and push mowers
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Uphold the values that are consistent with the mission of the school
